national vocational beach lifeguard qualification (NVBLQ)

How hard is it?

Embarking on the beach lifeguard course is the initial stride toward a rewarding career in lifesaving. However, the course is rigorous. Daily training involves swimming in both pools and the ocean to hone essential lifesaving techniques. Physical fitness is paramount; candidates must run on the beach, sometimes along coastal paths, to assess their endurance. Upon commencing our Beach Lifeguard course, candidates are expected to meet a predetermined fitness standard for effective training in intricate skills. Given the limited time frame, we cannot enhance swimming or fitness levels during the course. Those unable to complete the 400m swim on the first day are unable to proceed, adhering strictly to the RLSS guidelines.

Our pledge to you

Our commitment is unwavering—we strive to provide you with top-tier training, cutting-edge equipment, and ample opportunities not only to pass but to excel in the course. Our goal is for you to reach a level of excellence that sets you apart when seeking employment. We aim for our academy's training to position you head and shoulders above other applicants, ensuring your prospective employer recognizes the exceptional standards you've attained.

Our Coaches

James and David, the trainers and assessors at Ocean Frog Lifesaving Academy, boast an impressive 50 years of combined lifesaving experience. Their industry-leading standards ensure excellence in training. Despite the physical demands of the NVBLQ course, James and David prioritise an instructional approach that not only equips each candidate with the essential information for success but also fosters an enjoyable learning experience.
